Athens Airport Train to city

Athens Airport is connected to the railway network and by thus, to Athens Central Railway Station (Larissis Station) and also to Archarnai Railway Center.

The suburban railway service Proastiakos is the main rail service from both locations. It has a 15 up to 25 minutes’ frequency from the airport to Plakentias station, from where it is possible to change trains and get to downtown by using the same ticket.


By Proastiakos you can also reach Piraeus port and Kiato.

Athens Airport Railway Station is adjacent to the main terminal. You can get there by an elevated walkway.




By the Athena Card you can get convenient fares to travel to and from Athens Airport. The card can be used for 90 minutes up to 5 days and is rechargeable. They can be both purchased at any metro station, ticket office and at the automatic ticket machines.

The Anonymous Athena Card is really worth for passengers travelling to Athens since it can be charged and recharged from 90 minutes to 5 days and used to transfer from both metro and bus from Athens Airport.


On the other hand, if your stay in Athens is less than 3 days, our recommendation is to purchase the 3-day tourist ticket.
